SCHOLAR EMERALD WORKS ON A PROGRAM TO CREATE LIBRARIES FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Emerald Flores, a student at the Rafael Landívar University, who studies Psychology, has created the “Growing and Educating with Love” program, which has received recognition from the University and has attracted the attention of students from different faculties, who have joined her and have helped generate a greater impact. The project promotes the habit of reading in students of public schools through the donation of libraries equipped with a variety of books for children. Likewise, it benefits teachers through access to this material that can be used as a teaching tool. To collect all kinds of books, Emerald creates publicity campaigns that she publishes on Facebook and in other forms such as flyers, voice to voice in the parishes, and different activities in her university and others. After they donate the library to a public school, the project is followed up with workshops that help the kids and the teacher use the library material correctly and also with games that develop interest in reading to create a habit in them.
